We were quite excited here at Postcode Anywhere to be attending the first UK Meet Magento conference and demonstrating our new international extension for the platform.
I’ve been to a number of industry wide shows over the last couple of years but this was one of the first platform specific shows we’ve attended. There was a lot of excitement surrounding the day, reminiscent of the regular Cloudforce events by Salesforce.
The event itself was really well organised. With more than 450 attendees, The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre was completely packed-out and provided ample opportunity to meet lots of like-minded Magento developers and enthusiasts. Many familiar companies were also present, the likes of Sage Pay, Sweet Tooth and Rackspace.
Bob Schwatz and Roy Rubin kick-started the day, giving an insight to the Meet Magento conferences, which have been running for two years and attended by over 10,000 people in that time. Throughout the day there were several insightful presentations where we got to hear about the latest platform updates, as well as useful tips. The event showcased the new X-Commerce as well as the plans by Ebay and Paypal for the Magento platform.
We were there to demo our new International extension for the platform which was well received by the merchants, partners and developers we talked to. The extension is built around our new Integration Toolkit which boasts a much greater range of countries and improved UI which now fully supports mobile devices. We also had great interest in a number of other products including email and bank validation as well our route optimisation services. Many of the partners we spoke to seemed to have particular clients in mind they could offer one or more of our services to as a nice “value add” or “differentiator” to their services.
Hive of activity
The after party was a hive of activity with people playing pool, bowling, riding on dodgems and of course networking. We met several of our existing partners to see how they are getting on with promoting our services, to get some feedback and say thanks for all the good work they’re doing. We also chatted to some of the Magento executives including Roy Rubin and Phil Robinson who were excited about the potential growth they see in the UK market for them.
Overall the message was clear; Magento is growing fast and will continue to do so. They are readily moving forward with new developments and products. The future for Magento looks very bright indeed.
The event was great to be a part of and has reinforced our commitment to Magento as a platform. We are already looking forward to the next Meet Magento event!
